In or Out? Sean Paul in… Boisbriand?! Or Lady Day in New Orleans

Wondering what to do tonight? In or Out is the daily answer to that question from Gazette music contributor Erik Leijon and writer/editor Denise Duguay.

Go out: It’s not too late to see the Montreal Impact play their home opener at the Big O, minus turf-averse star Didier Drogba —  game-time is 4 p.m. Really though, that time would be better spent Google mapping Centre d’Excellence Sports Rousseau in Boisbriand, Quebec, because oddly enough, the House that Joël Bouchard Built will play host to dancehall crossover mainstay Sean Paul. Now that Get Busy is well into its second decade as an undeniable dance floor essential and Drake is using music video director Little X to make him look cool, can we all just admit that Sean Paul has had a greater effect on pop music culture than we all expected? If the drive seems too daunting or you’re as apprehensive about a Sean Paul show in Boisbriand as I am, he’s also performing in Montreal on Sunday. At 7 p.m. at Centre d’Excellence Sports Rousseau, 3600 Boulevard de la Grande Allée, Boisbriand, QC. Tickets $65-95. EL

Stay in: Audra McDonald (Private Practice) is the great Billie Holiday in Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grill (HBO, 9 p.m.), an adaptation of the Broadway play that was filmed in New Orleans, in front of a live audience. Lady Day tells the story of her life through her beautiful songs, including God Bless the Child, What a Little Moonlight Can Do, Strange Fruit and Taint Nobody’s Biz-ness. DD
